Tied and True (2012)

Ghanaian writer, filmmaker and historian Nana Oforiatta-Ayim and LA-based artist Wu Tsang have teamed up for the first time to premier their cinematic collaboration at this year’s Frieze London festival.

Set in a hybrid landscape of St Louis, Senegal and Los Angeles, their short film Tied And True uses the controversial relationship between the characters – including "a Senegalese royal and a British working-class interloper" – to explore narratives of identity, self and belonging.

Oforiatta-Ayim, who is currently based in Senegal, has previously exhibited The Ungovernables: The 2012 New Museum Triennial at New Museum and The Museum of African Diaspora in San Francisco.
