The East Coast of the US is still in a state of recovery from the worst of super-storm Sandy’s work. In this time of crisis, Ralph Lauren has announced he will be donating US$2million dollars to support the hurricane relief effort, through the Ralph Lauren Corporation and Ralph And Ricky Lauren Family Foundation.

US$1million will go directly to the Mayor’s Fund To Advance New York City, and the rest will be donated to various charities, including the American Red Cross Relief Fund and the Robin Hood Relief Fund.

“I’m a born and bred New Yorker,” said Lauren. "I raised my family here and started my business here. The Tri-State area is home to thousands of our employees and our customers and we have a special and personal relationship with the affected areas.

"We want to support the selfless work of so many agencies, professionals and volunteers and hope that these donations will make it easier for our cities to rebuild and recover."

Lauren's donation will go towards long-term relief efforts, as well as immediate measures to help families recover from the devastation in Connecticut, New Jersey, Long Island and Westchester County.
